Not So Extreme Makeover: Community Edition
Love Works

Not So Extreme Makeover: Community Edition is a joint effort of Albuquerque area organizations to engage and partner with members of our community to help them improve their living environment and overcome obstacles to meeting their own needs. It is an opportunity to share our abundance with a watching and hurting world-right in our own backyard.

The Hand of Providence
God is at work in our city. He has been at work in individuals and organizations, stirring a vision for His mobilized Body, working together to impact people and places in our city who seem without hope or help.

Many churches and organizations have more than enough—not just stuff, but an abundance of grace and hope, knowledge and wisdom, time, help and resources. There are people in our community in need of all of these.

The “Not So Extreme” Concept
Existing community partners will nominate and validate recipients of Not So Extreme Makeovers.

March 24-26, we will receive and sort donations of “stuff” at the Hoffmantown Church parking lot. March 27-29, “Go Teams” will use the donations to complete Not So Extreme Makeovers (we hope 30+) in locations around the city, including the area in which ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition recently completed its build. But this effort goes well beyond the distribution of “stuff!”

Go Teams will assess needs, and create a plan to address them. Needs addressed are not limited to household items or repair, but could include medical, educational, vocational, transportation, safety, comfort, and aesthetic needs. Building relationships and trust is a key component of Go Team responsibility.

The Xtreme Team is a home mission “trip,” a group of people dedicating a minimum of 32 hours to the project,  serving wherever needed during Xtreme Week.

An Extreme Concept
NSX is something only God can accomplish. Given our condensed time-frame and the magnitude of the task, God is compelling His Body to action. We have seen Him at work in so many ways—just ask!

We do not know what God will do next, but we have been given this assignment from the Head, with many testifying to His equipping and preparation of the Body to love and obey. We are walking into the mystery of God’s “how” with the light given for this task.
